Trust us, you will want to learn from our years of experience.
We are a small school – so we have a small training staff. Even though we're small, we have over 150 years of driving experience and they all come from different backgrounds. Our trainers adhere to all Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) standards and represent experience as Company Driving, City/Local Driving, Owner Operator driving, Heavy Haul, Dry Van, Regional & LTL.
Charles "CK", CDL A Skills Instructor
Charles came on with Truck America Training in late 2018 after retiring from his regional job with his last company for 30 years. Charles, aka. CK., trains on-the-road and on-the-range teaching skills. A fun fact about CK is that he was almost a professional basketball player, but due to injury, became a driver! He is a great pep-talker and a patient instructor to boot. Dale, CDL A Skills Instructor Dale was an Owner Operator hauling heavy haul equipment for over 20 years before coming to Truck America Training in 2006. He went back over the road to do more heavy hauling before coming back to train again in 2017. Dale is a road and range instructor and has some exciting adventure stories to share from his time over the road – and boy does he share! He will give you a great big dose of OTR experience through the stories he has lived. He can come off stern, but don’t let that fool you – he is actually a big teddy bear. Ed, CDL A Skills Instructor Ed joined Truck America Training in 2010 after 37 years of company OTR experience. During Ed’s career he was awarded as a 1 Million Safe Mile Safe Driver and 2 Million Safe Mile Safe Driver. Ed shares his knowledge and safe driving habits on the road and the range. Ed accidentally started his own trucking company at the ripe young age of 16 and has never stopped truckin’! Gerald, Part Time Classroom Instructor Gerald has a wide array of training in his background – he has instructed everything from military vehicles to teaching English in Seoul, Korea! Besides his unique training qualifications, he was an OTR driver for 22 years, during which he would train new student drivers from time-to-time. Later in his driving career, he became a local city driver then transitioned into a supplemental Orientation Instructor for a local trucking company. In 2017, he transitioned to being a full-time instructor for Truck America Training. Gerald has since “retired”, but still trains in the classroom for certain topics. Ann, CDL A Skills Instructor & Classroom Instructor Ann has been instructing at Truck America Training since 2003 after leaving a 20+ year driving career. Ann drove OTR as a team with her husband for many years. They did a stint as a company team and as an Independent Contractor driving team. Ann and her husband trained together at Truck America Training for a number of years before her husband retired. Ann now instructs in the classroom every other week. When she is not in the classroom teaching the next generation of safe drivers, she is working on her farm with her horses. JD, CDL A Skills Instructor JD came on with Truck America Training mid-2020 after working for Summitt Trucking LLC for nearly 6 years. He is a former Owner Operator and put in his time OTR. JD loves his dogs and playing the drums! JD is very patient instructor that loves our students. Eddie, CDL A Skills Instructor Edward is our newest member of the team. He is a former Pit Boss at Belterra Casino, as well as a teaching professional golf. Edward has been great with students and particularly likes teaching backing maneuvers out on the Range. |

Joe Olive, General Manager
Contact Joe directly: 502-955-6388 or jolive@tatcdl.com Joe can remember back to his childhood wanting to be a “big truck” driver. After nearly 20 years in contract and corporate security, Joe had the opportunity to come to Truck America as a student and graduated in October of 2018 with a Class A CDL license. He's truly a product of the amazing work we do here everyday. After getting his CDL, he took a job with Schneider National Carriers and experienced life as an "over the road" driver. He fell completely in love with trucking life and decided this is the career for him. Needless to say he was hooked. 4 years later he's combined his trucking life and business life together and have never been happier at Truck America Training. |
