CDL A Training at Truck America Training
Truck America’s comprehensive 160 hour Class A CDL Training Program is conducted at our facility just south of Louisville, KY. This program provides future drivers with the Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) skills to begin a career as a professional truck driver. ELDT skills apply to those who are obtaining a Class A CDL or Class B CDL for the first time, upgrading an existing Class B CDL to a Class A CDL, or obtaining a school bus, passenger or hazardous materials endorsement for the first time. Our outstanding instructors can provide the hands-on training and the CDL knowledge needed to properly and safely operate a truck.

Curriculum
Program Length: 3-1/2 weeks (160 clock hours)
Class Schedule: Monday-Friday (10 hours/day: 6:30am-5:15pm) + test day(s) to obtain the CDL A Requirements: Must be at least 18 years old to enroll to drive intrastate and 21 years old to drive interstate and have a valid operator driver’s license. Admissions Representatives will cover all admissions policies and entrance requirements. Curriculum: Our CDL training adheres to all ELDT requirements and includes the Kentucky State Police CDL A test to operate a tractor/trailer. The full-time Class A driver training program includes a week/50 hours of classroom instruction plus hands-on, behind-the-wheel training (110 hours). Classroom, Driver Simulators, field and road training are completed at the school training grounds. Students will participate in extensive practice driving on a specially prepared driving range and on local highways and city streets with a qualified driver instructor. For Class B training, classroom instruction is a required 40 hours, and behind-the-wheel training is 60 hours. This course prepares students for entry-level employment in the transportation industry.
